There’s Always a Team Behind a Strong Woman
Let me start off by saying, this is NOT a sponsored post or advertisement. I have loved sharing my Fit-bump Fridays with all of you. I receive so much positive response and stories from other mommies or mommies-to-be. Comments I often read: ” now that’s dedication,” “you are more driven than me.” Let me tell ya, this isn’t a 100% self-motivated journey; I have to give props to my ultimate workout encourager, the awesome fitness community that is CampGladiator.
Throwback when I began CampGladiator 2013
Five years ago, my now sister-in-law, Nayelli, told me about a fitness bootcamp that she absolutely loved. I was not sold. The idea of a bootcamp sounded like a glorified high school P.E. class with a “one size fits all” training program. One day Nayellli invited me to a bring a buddy workout week. It was one of the most challenging and inspiring workouts I’ve ever had. There were at least 40 individuals, all in different stages of their physical fitness journey; ranging in age from 18-60(give or take), various builds and ability levels, and they were all working collaboratively while still focusing on pushing themselves to realize their own personal potential. During that one week, I also had so much variety in my workouts. Goodbye monotonous rotation of stale workouts. Ok, so now I was sold! I enjoyed working out with CG for a while until family, work, travel and everyday life were prioritized over my workouts.
Postpartum “Beast-Mode” turned Pregnancy Workouts
After having my daughter, my physique completely changed. I was not willing to embrace all of my new “assets” so fitness became very highly prioritized. I tried a series of self guided-workouts and home based workout routines, but personally, I needed to find a way to get my “mojo” back. I was incredibly motivated to turn up the intensity and work towards loving my new “mom bod.” All of this after my doctor gave me the green light to workout again, of course. I signed up for CG again and after a month of workouts, I had gotten knocked up! I immediately thought of the fatigue and aches that accompany pregnancy. I had made up my mind that I would workout throughout my first trimester and slowly phase out exercise until after baby.
The Quarries location is great for families with small kids.
Luckily, I had met many inspiring and strong mommies who were working out with a bun in the oven, or worked out throughout their previous pregnancies. It was their stories and encouragement that encouraged me to stay with my workouts as long as my body would allow me to! My incredible camp coaches are also supportive in this process. I get text messages from Joey asking when I’ll be at camp, because we all need accountability! Travis is my biggest cheerleader (not because he was a gymnast) whenever I make it out to one of his camps. Sometimes I join in other locations that offer camps at times that work better for mine and Evie’s flexible daily schedules. All coaches have been so welcoming and offer many modifications to my working out with the bump. The owner of CampGladiator, a strong boss mom herself, Ally Davidson, worked out during her previous pregnancy and just announced a second little baby on the way. It was really encouraging to be working out side by side this past Wednesday!

Thanks to the hour long workouts, rain or shine, and the people who have indirectly shown me that we all have reasons to back out of a workout, yet still make the effort to stay healthy and active, I FEEL GREAT in my third trimester of pregnancy. I am CG Strong, and that is all thanks to the entire team of people who lift one another up!
